AMS Marine Acoustic Barrier (MAB-CC)

AMS MAB-CC is a grade of Marine Acoustic Barrier that is unsupported (no cloth backing). It is designed to attenuate airborne noise through the utilization of the limp mass concept. MAB-CC is barium sulfate laded.

  • AMS MAB-CC products are used by themselves are with a variety of insulation fillers, such as fiberglass hullboard, Polyshield polyimide foam, polyurethane foams and mineral wool. This composite end product creates a material that has desirable transmission loss (TLT) characteristics as well as absorptive properties.

  • AMS MAB-CC products are used for silencing noisy equipment such as gear boxes, generators, reduction gears, turbines and pumps. It can also be used as a pipe or duct cladding. These materials are very durable and are easily fabricated for installation.

r-Mat MAB-CC materials are available in 1/2#, 3/4#. 1.0#. 1.5# and 2.0# per sf densities. The roll width is 54" and length varies with the density. Standard color is black with a slightly texturized finish on one side.

AMS MARINE ACOUSTIC BARRIER (MAB-NL)

MAB-NL is designed and engineered to attenuate airborne noise through the utilization of limp mass. This mass is then applied to a 100% fiberglass cloth.

  • MAB-NL products are used by themselves or with a variety of insulation filler materials, such as polyimide foam, fiberglass, or mineral wool. This composite end product creates a material that has desirable transmission loss (TLT) characteristics.

  • MAB-NL products are used as the top or middle layers in composite insulation systems requiring transmission loss. These composites are attached to decks, bulkheads, overheads or machinery casings per standard application details found in NAVSEA drawings 804-5773931 and 804-5773932.

  • MAB-NL products are used for silencing noisy equipment such as gear boxes, generators, reduction gears, turbines or pumps. It is also used to quiet sensitive areas on board Navy ships.

MAB-NL materials have excellent TLT properties, high tensile and tear strength, a high degree of flame resistance, are very durable or are easily fabricated for installation.

MAB-NL meets Mil-PRF-24699, taking no exceptions and asking for no waivers. It is available in .75, 1.0 and 1.5 lb/sf surface densities. MAB-NL products are offered in 52" wide rolls.

AMS MARINE ACOUSTIC BARRIER (MAB-SL)

AMS MAB-SL is designed and engineered to attenuate airborne noise through the utilization of limp mass. AMS MAB-SL materials are loaded with silicone and barium sulfate. This mass is then applied to a 100% fiberglass cloth. The fiberglass cloth can be applied to one or both sides of the mass. AMS MAB-SL is also available without the fiberglass cloth backing (unsupported).

  • AMS MAB-SL products are used by themselves or with a variety of insulation filler materials, such as fiberglass, mineral wool or polyimide foam. This composite end product creates a material that has desirable transmission loss (TLT) characteristics.

  • Because AMS MAB-SL is silicone loaded, it exhibits excellent fire resistance and offgasing properties.

  • AMS MAB-SL products are used for silencing noisy equipment such as gear boxes, generators, reduction gears, turbines or pumps. It is also used to quiet sensitive areas on board Navy ships. It is also used as a deck seal for floating decks onboard USN ships and submarines.

AMS MAB-SL materials have excellent TLT properties, high tensile and tear strength, a high degree of flame resistance, are very durable or are easily fabricated for installation.

AMS MAB-SL is available in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, and 1-1/2 lb/sf densities. Standard width is 36" and the roll length varies with the density.
