AMS GLAS CLOTH

AMS Glas Cloth is a woven fabric manufactured from texturized fiberglass yarns. The fine filaments used to weave Glas Cloth give it a high degree of flexibility. Industrial grades of GCHT180 and GCAL180, made from G fiber are available (does not comply with Mil-C-20079 Type 1, Class 9 or 10 respectively).

AMS Glas Cloths have high heat resistance, excellent dimensional stability, high chemical resistance (except for hydrofluoric and phosphoric acids, and hydrogen chloride), high tensile strength, and excellent electrical properties.

AMS Glas Cloths are used for removable insulation blankets, pipe insulation lagging, hullboard facing, heat shields, spray shields, fire blankets, welding curtains and other applications where high temperature protection is required.

AMS Glas Cloths are available in many finishes and treatments including basic heat treating, water and oil resistance, red dyed, rewettable adhesive, resin treated, 1 mil aluminum foil (the temperature limit of the foil is 300 oF) or with 304SS wire inserted into the yarn in both the warp and fill.

AMS Glas fabrics meet Mil-C-20079, USCG 164.009, USCG 164.109 and are referenced is ASTM C-1094-88. When required and specified by the customer, AMS Glas fabrics can meet the requirements of Mil-I-24244, NRC 1.36, RDT-M12-1T and ASTM C-795-92.


AMS GLAS TAPE & ROPE

AMS Glas Tapes & Ropes are woven and plied using fiberglass yarns. The fine filaments usedto make Glas Products give them a high degree of flexibility.

AMS Glas tapes are available with a 304SS wire plied into to yarn to offer increased durability and abrasion resistance.

AMS Glas tapes are available with a drop warp or bolt hole construction and can be combined with our glass, ceramic or wire ropes to make tadpole tapes.

AMS Glas Products have high heat resistance, excellent dimensional stability, will not burn or support flame, and high dielectric strength.

Applications include insulating pipe wrap, tadpole tapes, oven-furnace- boiler door seals, hullboard seaming, and pipe hanger lining.

AMS Glas ropes are available, either twisted or braided. Also available is braided sleeving, ID's from 1/8" to 2".

AMS Glas tapes meet Mil-C-20079 or HH-P-0031. and USCG 164.009. When required they can meet Mil-I-24244, NRC 1.36 and ASTM C-795-92.

GT007 can be laminated to our AMS Foil tape with a specially formulated adhesive system and supplied with a PSA backing, offering the user a glass joining tape with the benefit of both a vapor barrier and a PSA installation system.

AMS WM WHITE MYLAR TAPE

DESCRIPTION

AMS WM white mylar tape is a fire resistant polyester film that is laminated to a fiberglass reinforcing scrim using a fire retardant adhesive. WM offers excellent puncture resistance, high tear strength and can be heat sealed. WM Tape (no PSA) meets the reqyuirements of USCG 164.012 (interior finish). WM Tape is available with or without pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing.

APPLICATION

AMS WM tape is used primarily as a joint seal material for marine insulation boards such as polyimide (DOD-I-24688 or MIL-DTL-24688 Type 2, Class 5), fiberglass (MIL-I-22023 Type 3) and mineral wool products that have been faced with AMS WM facing.

 
 

AMS Spray Shields

DESCRIPTION

AMS Spray Shields, also called Flange or Safety Shields are designed and fabricated to be used in engineering spaces on naval and commercial vessels. Spray Shields are to be installed around flange connectors on mechanical piping systems that carry fluids under pressure. In the event of a failure of the flange gasket or flange itself, our shields will ask as a diffuser of the high pressure fluids that will escape from the system. AMS Spray Shields will prevent exposure of these liquids on personnel and equipment.

AMS Spray Shields are fabricated in accordance with ASTM F-1138 and NAVSEA Drawing #80064- 2145518 Revision G.

AMS Spray Shields are fabricated using multiple layers (folded or piled) of aluminized fiberglass cloth per Mil-C-20079 Type 1, Class 10, a silicone coated fiberglass cloth per NAVSEA Drawing 80064-2145518 and stitched together with a fully sintered fiberglass thread meeting Mil-C-20079 Type 3, class 3. Widths are 2” through 16” with roll lengths of 30’ (2”-8”) and 20’ (9”-16”). Other widths and lengths are available upon request.

Note: Revision G shields do not have the installation hardware (hooks, washers and tie wire) included. If hardware is required, please specify when placing your order. It can either be furnished separately or applied to the shield. All shields are packaged per ATM-D-3951 unless otherwise specified.

AMS AM Foil Mylar Facing

DESCRIPTION

AMS AM jacketing / vapor barrier film is a triple ply laminate with a fiberglass scrim adhered with a fire retardant thermo-setting adhesive to an aluminized polyester face and an aluminum foil backing.

AMS AM jacketing offers an aluminum surface on both sides, has excellent flexibility while being strengthened by a fiberglass scrim and offers superior vapor barrier characteristics.

AMS AM can be laminated to Navy Cloth Facing, CF, with or with out the scrim reinforcement, as well as being laminated to a lightweight fiberglass cloth, style 7628. It meets the requirements of Mil-DTL-24688, TY3, CL 3 & 4.

 
 

CF & PF NAVY CLOTH FACING

DESCRIPTION

AMS CF Navy cloth facing is a 100% woven fiberglass cloth that is resin treated to ensure durability and non flammability. The cloth conforms to USCG 164.109 (non combustibility) and 164.112 (interior finish) and Military Specification MIL-C-20079 Type 1, Class 2.

APPLICATION

AMS CF is used primarily as a facing material for marine insulation boards such as polyimide (DOD-I-24688 or MIL-DTL-24688 Type 2, Class 1), fiberglass (MIL-I-742 Type 1) and mineral wool. AMS CF can be perforated (AMS PF) to meet the requirements of Military Spec. MIL-A-23054 and DOD-I-24688 or MIL-DTL-24688 Type 2, Class 2 for acoustic marine insulation applications.

AMS WM WHITE MYLAR FACING

AMS WM white mylar facing is a fire resistant polyester film that is laminated to a fiberglass reinforcing scrim using a fire retardant adhesive. WM offers excellent puncture resistance, high tear strength and can be heat sealed. It meets the requirements of USCG 164.112 (interior finish).

APPLICATION

AMS WM facing is used primarily as a facing material for marine insulation boards such as polyimide (DOD-I-24688 Type 1 and MIL-DTL-24688 Type 2, Class 5), fiberglass (MIL-I-22023 Type 3) and mineral wool where low frequency noise attentuation is required. This facing is also used to fabricate ceiling panels for shipboard living quarters.

AMS SMOKE CURTAIN FABRIC

AMS Smoke Curtain fabric is a 100% fiberglass cloth that is treated on both sides with a flame retardant acrylic coating. This fabric is used extensively by the US Navy where a lightweight, flexible smoke barrier is required. This fabric is Halogen Free. The standard color is gold.
